The topics that I have been researching consist of the rates of youth unemployability rising, and child poverty increasing. I'm interested in both topics as they are something that could effect me, or those my age which means that I would have a personal response behind my documentary. Furthermore, the key issues that revolve around these topics are the following:
Youth unemployability has risen which means that less people aged 16-24 have jobs. This means that a lot more young people are either in full education, or in worse circumstances, they're doing nothing. This leads to many other issues such as obesity, taking advantage of benefits, and just an overall lazier/less successful Britain.
Child poverty levels are allegedly risen which means that there are more children that are involved in families that don't receive as much money. The effects of this include not having a better upbringing (proposed to opinion), and fewer chances. Along with this, this could link in with youth unemployability; young people not getting jobs and end up in dead-end ones that don't receive a decent salary, which then later on effects their lives including their children being poverty stricken.
Some people that could be interviewed for my documentary are firstly, young people - people from college, people from university, and just the general public that full under the age range of 16-24. Additionally, I could get the general publics opinion, and most people have had a job in their life, so therefore they could relate to this topic no matter the age. When it comes to child poverty, the people I could interview are possibly local families that struggle with this in my area, or even people in my family that I know have had this issue. Going back to youth unemployability, when exploring the reasons behind it, I could interview employers that do have a lot of young people working for them(such as where I work), as well as the opposite, employers that are very picky of who works for them.
Overall the topic that I find most interesting personally, and for a documentary is the topic about youth unemployability. This is because it has endless amount of smaller topics that I could explore in my documentary, as well as it being a quite generalised topic that effects almost everyone which would mean I could involve a lot of people in my documentary.
